Kleber Mendonça Filho is a Brazilian filmmaker. His latest film PICTURES OF GHOSTS dives into the cinemas of Recife and their historical stories.
Why a filmmaker this time in ‘Nouvelles séances ? Well, despite ongoing political challenges in Brazil, Kleber keeps going. He’s defining the new Brazilian cinema. For him, each shot is about keeping our shared memories alive, especially in Recife’s cinemas’ tough past during dictatorship.
He picked a cinema at the Cinémathèque française for our chat, blending cinematic history with today’s creations.
